Dust Front

Desktop beta · Version 0.2.0

An independent browser strategy game. Equipment models, interface artwork, effects and music were created for this project. Equipment names identify the vehicles represented; this game is not endorsed by their manufacturers.

Equipment models

Equipment cards and previews are rendered from the same original 3D models used on the battlefield. The Armory includes visual reference links for the equipment represented.

Audio and materials

Rifle and automatic-fire effects are adapted from The Free Firearm Sound Library, published by BMacZero under CC0. Recording credits: Ben Jaszczak, Brian Nelson, Kevin Heras and Matthew Nanney. Other effects are original synthesized sounds.

Radio dialogue uses original lines and synthetic preset voices generated with Kokoro-82M and kokoro-onnx. No model weights or voice-generation software are downloaded by the game.

The original instrumental pieces Distant Front, Before the Advance, Steel Advance and Counteroffensive were generated for Dust Front with ACE-Step 1.5, using 4-bit MLX weights and the MLX Audio runtime. The full compositions alternate between planning and combat, with pauses between tracks. The game downloads only compressed audio files.

Environment surface materials use CC0 textures from Poly Haven.

Open-source software and fonts

Rendering uses Three.js (MIT) and Meshoptimizer (MIT).

The Barlow, Barlow Condensed and IBM Plex Mono fonts are distributed under the SIL Open Font License.

The original chrome and green HUD command icon atlas was generated for Dust Front with OpenAI ImageGen. Equipment portraits are rendered from the game’s own 3D models.
